That’s a strong statement but it’s also true. When I started my photography business I wasn’t known for photography, I had a corporate day job at the time. So how do I get people to know me as a photographer?

“How do I grow my business?” It’s a question many of us ask. Whether you are just starting out or we’re in our 10th year of business, enter the Chandler Chamber of Commerce.

We are often asked by fellow photographers, who are just starting out and who have been in business for years, “How do I grow my business?” I mean let’s be real, all of us want our business to grow whether we have been building it for 1 year or 10 years. And to be honest, this question can be answered sooooo many ways (a lot of O’s for emphasis). But I wanted to provide real concrete answers, ones that call us out of our comfort zones and into growth.

Business Exposure. No one is going to know you exist if you don’t put yourself out there. People who are moving into the area or who are looking for something cool to check out in the community look to their chamber of commerce to provide suggestions. If you’re on their list, you’ll get free marketing as a result.

Networking Opportunities. Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the US. Chandler is the 4th largest city in the state of Arizona ¹, and the 74th largest city in the US ². Those are most impressive numbers when you consider the growth and density of the population. Have you ever heard the saying, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know” Not every person you meet is going to be a customer but if you are playing the numbers game and know your conversion rates of converting leads to customers, then this is one area where more is better.

The Chandler Chamber offers several networking events every week, in fact, they hosted over 200 events in 2022! All this can lead to opportunities to meet your neighbors, community leaders, new friends, friends of friends, and who knows maybe even a new teammate for your pickleball league.

• The Ambassador Program and the award-winning Chandler Chamber Community Foundation Leadership Institute are designed to create well-rounded leaders that serve as catalysts in our community.

Speaking of the Community Awards. For 36 years the Chandler Chamber of Commerce has honored Chandler’s businesses, educators, public servants, and community members at their annual Chandler Chamber Community Awards. This year we were again honored to be the photography sponsor of the event which was presented by Gila River Resorts & Casinos and Radford Racing School held at Gila River Resorts & Casinos — Wild Horse Pass on Thursday, June 1st. Here’s a recap of 2022’s event.

Professional Development. The Chandler Chamber offers professional development through Women in Leadership Luncheons, the Ambassador Program, the award-winning Chandler Chamber Community Foundation Leadership Institute, Education & Workforce Development series, and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Series.

Grants & Funding. If you’re part of a chamber of commerce, you’ll have a community with your best interests at heart. They may even be able to help you find business grants and funding that you otherwise wouldn’t have known existed.

Getting Your Voice Heard. The Chandler Chamber in particular works closely with the City of Chandler and elected officials. Their Policy Impact Series is way more than what I have seen other chambers and organizations do to help their members.

The Chandler Chamber works hard to cultivate and maintain excellent working relationships with elected officials from the City Council to the U.S. Senate — regardless of party affiliation. As a politically active Chamber, we believe a strong, collective voice from our business community is essential to aid elected officials in making policy decisions that are in the best interests of Chandler as a whole. We represent the business interests of entrepreneurs, small businesses, and large corporations operating right here in Chandler.

Our Public Policy Series is aimed at just such ideals. It is a chance to hear from our elected officials and industry experts on a range of issues that impact our community, businesses and beyond. The Public Policy meetings are held monthly on a Friday in an intimate setting that allows for deep discussion on all issues presented. Your attendance is encouraged as this is a rare opportunity to hear directly from decision makers while having your voice heard.
