Studio Assistant
About Photo Fusion Studio
Photo Fusion Studio is a professional photography studio based in downtown Phoenix that specializes in corporate headshots, events, and brand imagery. We also photograph families, pets, and creative businesses. Our team focuses on creating a friendly, professional experience for every client while producing clean, consistent, high-quality images.
Position Overview
We’re looking for a reliable, outgoing Studio Assistant to support our photographers during photo shoots and in-studio preparation. This is a paid position designed for students or recent graduates who want hands-on experience in a real photography business. You’ll learn what it takes to run professional photo sessions, interact with clients, and keep a busy studio organized.
No prior studio experience is required. We’ll train you on the photography basics you need to know. You just need a great attitude, solid communication skills, and the ability to stay organized under pressure.
What You’ll Do
On-Set and Client Interaction
- Assist the photographer(s) during sessions, helping with lighting setup, reflectors, and gear changes.
- Greet clients, keep sessions running on schedule, and help the next person get ready for their photo.
- Keep energy positive and make clients feel comfortable in front of the camera.
- Take light behind-the-scenes photos or videos during shoots for marketing or social media use.
- Listen and take notes about client interests or details (for example, if someone mentions they have a family or pet) so our studio can follow up later about future photography opportunities.
- Represent the studio professionally and help create a welcoming environment at every shoot.
Studio Preparation and Organization
- Help prepare gear before shoots from charging batteries, checking memory cards, packing lighting and camera equipment.
- After shoots, return gear to the studio, organize it neatly, and make sure it’s ready for the next session.
- Keep the studio space clean and client-ready.
- Note when supplies (like batteries or cleaning materials) are running low so the team can restock.
Image Workflow Support
- Help transfer and organize photo files after shoots.
- Learn how professional photographers manage digital files and backups.
- No culling, editing or retouching work required at this time.
- Helpful if you know Capture One, Lightroom, Photoshop and other photography applications.
Requirements
- Friendly, outgoing personality and comfort talking with people.
- Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable lifting and moving up to 50 pounds of equipment safely.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance.
- Able to work flexible hours, including some mornings, evenings, or weekends depending on shoot schedules.
- Basic photography knowledge is helpful but not required—we’ll teach you what you need to know.
Schedule and Pay
- Part-time, flexible hours (Starting with 5–15 hours per week. Once proven time and role can increase).
- Paid hourly; rate based on experience.
- This is a 1099 Contractor position to start.
- Most work happens on-site in downtown Phoenix or at client locations around the Valley.
